DIY Floppy Disk Pen Holder

0

If you still have a bunch of floppy disks around your house, here is a new use for them… a pen/pencil holder for your desk! I made this today and I thought that it actually turned out pretty well. All you need are 5 disks, zipties, superglue and a sharp object to poke holes with.

Step 1

Poke holes in the bottom of the disk where the circular crevices are. Since it already has the crevice, I was easily able to just poke through it with a pair of pliers.

Step 2

Hold all 4 disks that will be the sides together and ziptie the tops and bottoms of the disks together. This is much easier if you have a second person holding the disks together while you pull the ziptie through.

Step 3

Now you will need to attach the bottom. I decided to go the easy route and just superglue all four sides to the bottom disk. This was simple and it seems to be holding well. If you feel like bringing out the power tools, you could drill additional holes in your disks and attach it with more zipties.

And Voila!

I think this would be especially cute if you have some retro game titles so you can face the labels outward. Since my disks were all boring bank software, I chose to face my labels in.
